"km to base" is the road distance from Oz-en-Oisans to the start of each climb — not the climb itself. Alpe d'Huez and Ornon are reached via Bourg-d'Oisans; Glandon and Croix de Fer share the same lower road through Allemond and Rochetaillée; the Sarenne climb begins only once you've already reached the top of Alpe d'Huez.

Three climbs from the Allemond side

All distances measured
from Oz-en-Oisans
All three share the same starting point – Allemond, just below the Verney dam – so it's an easy warm-up ride down before the climbing begins.

"km to base" is the road distance from Oz-en-Oisans down to Allemond, where all three climbs begin. Col du Sabot is the toughest and wildest of the three – a dead-end road into the high pastures above the Lac de Grand Maison. Montée d'Oz is the most direct: it's the very road that brings you home. Villard-Reculas is the gentlest and quietest, a shaded back way up towards Alpe d'Huez.
